Group Trips with Friends and Family

This weekend as I celebrated a friend's birthday in our private area atop the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn (adulting in style), I realized that while my oldest friendships are incredibly dear and important, life got so full for everyone that we've barely seen each other lately - even though most of us are in Brooklyn. Maybe it's the pandemic that upended our socializing habits in our late 40's right when we'd be more inclined to be homebodies anyway. However we got here, I was really moved to reconnect with friends I've known for 30 years - before their marriages, incredible children, successful careers, and even Grammy awards. I was the first to leave Pittsburgh for Brooklyn in 1996, and these college friends soon followed. What a magical time it was for us to be young, new New Yorkers.

 

Now that we're in our 50's, I better understand shows like The Four Seasons where it takes an intentional group event to rally everyone to clear the schedules. I can easily see us taking group friend trips as we mature together. Do you feel like a group trip would help bring you and your friends together too? I have so many ideas on how to plan a can't-miss trip that focuses on connecting with each other.

 

Of course this goes for large families too! I'm working right now with a client who's gathering family together at an all-inclusive and kid-friendly resort near Panama City, Panama for an unforgettable beach getaway over Spring Break that will also satisfy those who want to go off and explore the city sights and Panama Canal. Another client just returned from a wondrous journey we planned through Costa Rica with her children and grandchildren. Trips like these are the arias of your life's opera.
