En route from Proud Experiences in L.A., this weekend I visited my best friend from high school in her new hometown of Houston to see Duran Duran in concert with her - something we haven't done together since high school! Despite the sweltering heat at the Woodlands, we sang every word and danced all night! When she asked what else I wanted to see in Houston, number one on my list the next day was the Rothko Chapel, and it did not disappoint. Then we walked across the lawn next door into the award-winning Menil Collection's main building designed by architect Renzo Piano and experienced the phenomenon of entering what appears to be a smallish buidling then roamed through a series of rooms that all seemed too large to be within that same structure. The eclectic collection is displayed beautifully, and the amount of Magrittes made me particularly happy. Plus my friend gave me a tour of her local favorites like Dutch Bros Coffee, MOD Pizza, and Buc-ees where I got to ride through the world's longest car wash!
Next I'm headed to Pittsburgh today to set up my exhibition hall table for the League of American Orchestras' annual conference. Nine Muses Travel been a proud member of the League for four years, and I'm looking forward to reconnecting with everyone in person. The last time I exhibited at the League's conference was in Nashville in 2019. At their events I meet with decision makers at arts organizations to discuss donor travel programs and also travel for individuals seeking a boutique travel agency to customize their own inspiring holidays. When the conference ends, I'm so happy I'll be able to share Father's Day with my Dad in Pittsburgh, so it's bound to be a great week ahead. And next year's League of American Orchestras conference just so happens to be in a place where another person I love lives - Houston! I can't wait to return!
