"I thought I could organize freedom/How Scandinavian of me." ― Bjork, "Hunter"
Last week's event focusing on The Nordics was fun and full of insightful information and updates, and I was especially fascinated by Greenland and the Faroe Islands, enchanted by how much culture and history they have to offer amid such wildly beautiful landscapes. I met with several tour operators, hotels, and tourism boards from there and across Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark because these Nordic countries are so popular with my clients. I feel so happy at shows like this because one of my favorite things about working in tourism is the privilege to continually learn about our incredible planet - and find the best ways for you to experience its uniquely wonderful places too.
Tomorrow is another full day of travel events! I was invited to The Regenerative Travel Summit at the Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn. Its exhibitors and program of speakers are aligned with Nine Muses Travel's values. The first panel is Empowering Communities: Collaborative Models for Regenerative Tourism, and its description reads, "Discover the impact of regenerative travel through the lens of hospitality companies that have implemented innovative initiatives that go beyond conventional tourism, focusing on active community engagement as a catalyst for societal transformation. Explore how tourism initiatives can serve as platforms for education, healthcare, cultural preservation and can transform destinations into thriving ecosystems." I care deeply about these things, and I'm sure you do too.
Afterwards, I head to the city for an evening event called Discover Japan. Japan is another destination being requested more and more lately, and I look forward to deepening my network in Japan there.
Lastly, check out this article: Visiting New York? Make Sure A.I. Didn’t Write Your Guidebook. I hope you already know A.I. can't be trusted to plan your travels! So much A.I. is just a fever dream of content out on the internet. Travel planning is a risky business when you try to DIY, and that risk factor flies off the charts when you turn to A.I. for any part of it. So, just don't. Muse News is 100% created by me and never uses A.I. I go to the source for my information! I put in the legwork attending events, meeting experts, and traveling in person for site visits to earn my first hand experiences, IRL.
In fact, I head back to Italy on Saturday night! I've been invited back to the Buy Tuscany trade show taking place this year in Arezzo. Italy is often at the top of the list for Americans traveling to Europe, and this event allows me to see new sides of Tuscany each time so we can better plan really special visits, off the beaten track. After our networking meetings, I'm treated to two terrific days in the Valdinievole region for its "hidden treasures, art, culture, and flavors" - and home of Pinocchio. Please follow Nine Muses Travel on Instagram so you can follow along with me in Italy!
