My First Expedition Voyage!

You wouldn't believe the amount of free or discounted travel offers I receive, but yesterday I accepted an offer I couldn't refuse, an actual dream come true. I'm going on my first expedition cruise, and it's exactly where I wanted to go for my first one - to the Arctic and Greenland!

 

Thanks to a super last-minute opportunity with National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions, I'm sailing later this month on their luxurious National Geographic Resolution ship; it's purpose-built for Arctic exploration and has only 69 cabins.

 

The itinerary is called Southeast Greenland – Exploring at The Edge of The Ice Cap, and I am SO excited! If anyone else has the flexibility (and spontaneity) to work remotely and wants to come too, let me know! The ship is connected to the internet through Starlink, even in remote waters.

 

I can't wait to experience how the air feels and smells in the Arctic, hear the silence of that environment, float by whales and icebergs, spot polar bears and puffins, marvel at spectacular mountains and fjords, converse with locals about their culture, and enjoy the ship's amenities - all without having to cross the Drake Passage for a polar adventure.

 

I've got a 5-hour nonstop flight from JFK to Reykjavic, where our sailing begins and ends. Iceland is only four hours ahead of Eastern time, so jet lag isn't even much of an issue.
