Flying into Pittsburgh recently for a weekend visit with family, something new happened while traveling. I left LaGuardia on a 6:30am flight and per usual promptly fell asleep as I've trained myself to do as soon as I settle in with my neck pillow, eye mask, and ear plugs. The gravity blanket that is take-off is my favorite part, and I often am fully out well before cruising altitude. When we touched down in Pittsburgh, I was deep in sleep, woken by wheels meeting runway. That's when I felt a new sensation.... For a few moments, I didn't know at what airport I just landed! My first thought was Amsterdam, so I'd need to get ready to make my connection. But to where? Wait, was I in Mexico? Then I remembered this trip was to Pittsburgh, and I thought WOW I've been traveling so much lately I actually forgot where I was for a minute! So far in 2023, I've been to the Italian Alps, Paris, Mexico's Riviera Maya - twice, and back to Italy again for a week in Liguria. I'm so happy to be traveling again!!!
Another reason I had to think twice when I'd landed is that I'm traveling abroad again this Sunday - to Spain! Their tourism board invited me to participate as a hosted buyer at the 2023 Spain Tourism Summit, which takes place this year on Mallorca, a Western Mediterranean island part of Spain's Balearic Islands archipelago. Afterwards I'll be joining other travel professionals for a familiarization trip organized by Spain's tourism board to Gran Canaria, one of the seven islands of the Canary Islands, a Spanish archipelago off the coast of Africa. Spain is very popular with the Nine Muses Travel community, so I'm thrilled to attend the Spain Tourism Summit this year, network in person with a variety of Spanish suppliers, and get the lay of the land first hand on Mallorca and Gran Canaria.
