It's amazing to think how far Nine Muses Travel has come since last December right before Omicron hit, when I had an exhibitor table almost in that exact spot at the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce Gala. The travel rebound is off the charts; 2022 has been a record year of achievements, and it was sublimely satisfying sharing about my business with a glass of champagne in hand at my booth this year. I was joined by familiar Brooklyn Chamber exhibitors again like Lishawn's Cupcakes and was introduced to others like Ft. Hamilton Distillery - both are phenomenal. I prefer gin, so I tasted Ft. Hamilton's New World Gin with tonic, and WOW is it goooood. THIS is what I hope Santa brings me!
Another reason for a good strong drink this week was the governmental and civil upheavals in Peru, which sadly impacted a family we booked on a terrific Peruvian itinerary over the holidays. It's a perfect example of why you would book travel through an advisor! First, the tour operator I chose has a long history with Nine Muses Travel, is highly respected, and has close relationships with their local suppliers in Peru - all of which allowed me to advocate strongly and effectively on behalf of my clients for refunds. Not only that, they wisely listened to my advice and had purchased travel insurance. Now all that's left is for me to work some magic and rebook their trip to another destination. It's not an easy feat because it's less than a week's notice AND over the holidays, but I do like a challenge. If you had saved up for a special trip with a specific window of time to gather as a family, and then the country you were about to fly to declared a state of emergency suddenly, would you want to deal with the repercussions on your own?
