"Lucky stars above you, Sunshine on your way, Many friends to love you, Joy in work and play. Laughter to outweigh each care, In your heart a song, And gladness waiting everywhere, All your whole life long." — Irish blessing

I'm back from my Globus "Irish Escapes" tour, and I hope you'll check out all the gorgeous scenery of our route at Nine Muses Travel's Facebook and Instagram. It was a little chilly at the end of January on average around 50 degrees, not bad for a winter getaway when so much of the U.S. was snowed and iced in! The misty Irish rains miraculously paused each time we stepped off our luxury coach to go exploring. My tour favorites were the Cliffs of Moher, the Ring of Kerry, and the mysterious stone gardens with Druid rock formations at the dramatic Blarney Castle.

Everywhere we went, we were the only coach in the parking lot and sometimes the only visitors at all. In high season, these roads and castles would be busier, but we had it all to ourselves! For example, I climbed Blarney Castle's stone spiral staircase up to the Blarney Stone with no one in front or behind me, and I explored its gardens in silence except for the sounds of waterfalls and bird calls.

Pictures are worth a thousand words, and I invite you to see what I got up to on our Globus tour on Nine Muses Travel's Facebook and Instagram. All ages are taking escorted tours now, and we had people in their 20's up to retirees in our group, including a super cute honeymoon couple. During meals and optional excursions, we got to know each other better, and everyone was congenial and kind. We avoided American politics, and it was a huge relief to leave it all behind for a week and immerse ourselves in another culture for a while.

Here's my last, surprising plug for taking an escorted group tour. They are GREAT for introverts!! Trust me, I'm an INFJ introvert, and I love this style of travel! Sounds crazy, right? But here's the thing. Everyone on a group tour understands they need to be considerate of their fellow travelers and that keeping harmony on tour means everyone has a better experience. When you want to stare out the window and just listen to the tour commentary in peace, people pick up on your body language. When you want to engage and talk, people are waiting to hear your story. I love how the group dynamic means less pressure to be "on" than when you're alone with a private tour guide. And you have the freedom to go off on your own the moment you step off the coach. Just be sure you're back on time!

I can't wait to take another Globus Escapes tour, focused on off-season travel (and priced less too). Pack some sensible outerwear and go; these tours are blissfully uncrowded and uniquely wonderful.
