September Summer Travels

"Memory is the diary we all carry about with us." — Oscar Wilde
I hope you enjoyed your Labor Day weekend! Summer may be over for those with school-aged children, but it's still in full swing for a lot of my clients traveling this week! Right now I've got a well-traveled couple exploring pretty Cotswolds villages and staying in English manor hotels like Grantley Hall. Another couple will be the first to enjoy the newly-renovated accommodations at Explora Torres del Paine in the heart of Chilean Patagonia. A client extended his trip to Portugal for a friend's wedding in Lisbon and is enjoying the sunny Algarve coast before heading north to Porto and the Douro Valley. Another client, who found me through ChatGPT (!!) is with his husband exploring Iceland in style to celebrate his 60th birthday. And a honeymoon couple in Athens will soon be luxuriating on a tailor-made trip through Greek Islands including Hydra, Poros, Aegina, Santorini, Milos, and Poliegos.
Each trip has been thoughtfully curated, designed to inspire, and meticulously planned with vetted, trusted partners in each destination. Their itineraries are as unique as they are!
After they all return this week, I depart for my next trip: back to Greenland and Iceland. Along with the Faroe Islands, these are known as the West Nordic countries, and they have an annual travel conference called Vestnorden, which I'm attending for the first time. It's being held this year in Nuuk, the capital of Greenland. Fun fact: during the summer season you can take a short flight (just over 4 hours) non-stop from Newark to Nuuk on United Airlines. When they started that route last summer, my curiosity about Greenland grew. I've also invested time over the last few years exploring Arctic Europe and Scandinavia because I love the "coolcation" trend we're seeing for northern summer holidays.
I begin my trip in Copenhagen, from where the Vestnorden conference is flying me to Greenland. It's also my birthday week, and I'm gifting myself a delightful day at Tivoli Gardens amusement park and staying at Nimb (pictured above), the only hotel with views overlooking the park. It's also showcased on a very cool BBC series called Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby. I'll write more about Greenland and Iceland trip next week, from my room at Nimb!
Lastly, I moved to Brooklyn in 1996 and started calling myself a New Yorker 25 years ago this week. I'm thinking about everyone who was in the city too that day, and I send you my love.
