I'm wishing you a very happy week of thanks giving with loved ones this long holiday weekend! I'm planning to turn off all the news and be thankful for the luxury of being able to tune it out for a while. Last night watching interviews with survivors of the Colorado Springs shooting was so mournful, thinking of the empty places at too many dinner tables this week. A tragedy is a reminder to not take anything or anyone for granted, hold our dear ones closer this week in thankfulness, and take all the opportunities to tell them how much we love them.
Here's another reminder... Are you someone who travels domestically using just your driver license as your photo ID to check in for flights? Then you need to get ready for the Real ID deadline, which was pushed back repeatedly over the last few years. The deadline is officially now May 23, 2023, which is closer than you think! While you're at it, check in on your passport expiration date too. It can definitely sneak up on you! Speaking of reminders, this one's a heads up for a new deadline to keep in mind: November 2023. That's when the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) goes into effect - a new visa waiver required by citizens of the U.S. (and others) to enter one of the 26 European Schengen countries (essentially the same as the 27 countries in the European Union itself). The application costs only €7 and takes about 10 minutes to complete with approval immediately or within a few hours, and then the visa waiver is valid for three years. How about some news for 2025? Australian airline Qantas recently shared designs for brand new first-class suites on nonstop flights from New York to Australia. Each of the six suites will have its own privacy door, lounge chair that reclines, an entirely separate flat bed, a wardrobe for each passenger, 32-inch screen, and more.
