I'm writing with this view in front of me from my Deluxe Sea View Room (all rooms have sea views!) at Mallorca's Hotel De Mar Gran Meliá of The Leading Hotels of the World, my balcony door open, and cooling breezes entering as invited guests. Spain's tourism board invited me as a hosted buyer to the Spain Tourism Summit held this year on the magical Mediterranean island of Mallorca. European islands (Mallorca, Canary Islands, Azores, Madeira, Malta, Sicily, etc.) have been high on my wanderlist, and being here now feels like a dream. 2023 is my year of saying YES to as many travel opportunities as my schedule will allow, and I'm thrilled about this trip.
If you're not already following Nine Muses Travel on Instagram or Facebook, this would be a great time to start as I tend to post photos at the end of the day when I'm traveling. I already posted last night's cocktail reception dinner at wonderful Cap Rocat, a fortress built into the hilltop overlooking the Bay of Palma and now a secluded luxury hotel and National Monument. There are no words... Even the photos and videos are just a glimpse of Cap Rocat's architectural achievements.
Over the next two days, I have 77 (!) meetings with hoteliers, tour operators, and tourism boards from all over Spain. Networking in-person to establish and deepen professional relationships is a really important way I do a lot of the legwork for you, finding the best suppliers for each of your unique, customized itineraries. Yes, these trips really ARE work! They just take place sometimes in gorgeous locations that make me feel extra lucky to love what I do.
One thing I can already recommend is taking advantage of the direct flights available from NYC to Mallorca. I connected in Madrid with Iberia, which was fine, but our flight to Mallorca was delayed. Save yourself those extra hours and fly nonstop! Speaking of direct flights from New York... Quantas is launching its first ever New York to Auckland, New Zealand service starting June 2023.The flights will operate three days a week with three new Boeing 787 Dreamliners scheduled for delivery this year.
Lastly, how are we all feeling about the new world of AI-generated written content that's becoming more mainstream? I attended some webinars recently to better understand it. Here's what I took away from those sessions and want to share with you. I love to write. I love my travel business.
