My Birthday Week has arrived!! I think everyone deserves a whole week to celebrate their birthday and focus on doing fun things with people who love to share joy with you. I've got some really lovely plans around New York City this week. Tomorrow three travel advisor friends come down from CT to join me for a private, site inspection tour at The Peninsula New York, culminating in birthday cocktails at their rooftop bar, Salon de Ning. The pandemic brought these ladies and I much closer together as we weathered the last year and a half together on our monthly Zoom call, which helped keep us travel business owners sane during this roller coaster. We earned that cocktail, let me tell you.
Then on Friday, I'm thrilled to have premium orchestra seats for the first live performance of David Byrne's American Utopia since Broadway shut down 18 months ago. I got these tickets as soon as they went on sale, because I want to be there the first time a curtain rises again on a Broadway show and to feel all that energy and emotion of the occasion, collectively, as only one can - inside a theater.
Birthday Week ends with more friends and music at my favorite Brooklyn summertime tradition - a free Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival concert in Prospect Park. I'm looking forward to hearing Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Lady Blackbird, and MICHELLE with them, stretched out on blankets below the trees, under strings of lights and the end of summer stars.
The icing on the birthday cake is that one month from today I depart for a culturally immersive, 10-day journey through Tuscany.
