I fell in love with Austria last week in Vienna and Salzburg, seduced by things like pristine mountain water from every tap and public fountain, a wealth of art museums, national pride for music, mountain cheese, real whipped cream in coffee drinks, palaces, fortresses, funiculars, cable cars, and amazing Alpine vistas. Halfway through my trip, my cell phone display decided to act crazy with certain apps, especially the camera, so I still have to post the second half of my journeys and jaunts around Salzburg. One free afternoon during my hosted visit (thanks to the Austrian and Salzburg Tourist Offices!) I took an elevator inside a mountain face, up to Salzburg's modern art museum (pictured above), and the views overlooking Salzburg from here are incredible. You just never get tired of gazing at the city and its surrounding mountains. I was there for five nights, and I still left wanting to see even more!
On Friday I also got a surprise overnight stay in Frankfurt, Germany when my flight from Salzburg got too delayed. The airline put me up for the night, and the next day I visited Steigenberger Icon Frankfurter Hof, Virtuoso's only hotel in Frankfurt. My super delicious lunch was from their seasonal venison menu, and over some strong WiFi, I booked client travel over sips of cappuccino before heading back to the airport.
And today I'm off again! This morning I flew to Québec City for a three-night familiarization trip with a different small group of American advisors, all thanks to Destination Québec cité. They have really fun and interesting activities planned for us including a walking tour of the Old Town and visiting Wendake, Parc de la Chute-Montmorency, Île d’Orléans, and more.
