Greetings from Salt Lake City! Nine Muses Travel has been a member of the League of American Orchestras since 2019, and our conference is being held here this year. Tonight after I set up my exhibitor table, I'll be enjoying an outdoor concert at the historic Tracy Aviary, a serene, wooded oasis in the heart of the city. The concert is produced by the Eden Festival and will explore Latin American, classical, and popular musical styles, featuring the multi-instrumentalist composer Clarice Assad plus the celebrated pianist Lara Downes with Alecia Lawyer, oboist and artistic director of ROCO.
This year my colleagues at AMA Waterways joined me in the League and will be exhibiting alongside me, promoting their classical music themed river cruise itinerary (which materialized after a conversation I had with my local AMA rep!); they'll be joining me for dinner at the historic Alta Club, where I have reciprocal club privileges, thanks to my Montauk Club membership in Brooklyn.
Between networking, I'm attending a Utah Symphony performance of Korngold’s Violin Concerto and also a city walking tour called “Mormons, Miners and the Settling of the Crossroads of the West,” led by a Utah Symphony and Utah Opera lifetime board member. I've built in some free time to explore on my own and see the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art and Natural History Museum too.
I look forward to this conference all year, and after six years have met wonderful, talented artists and administrators who have gone on to become clients of Nine Muses Travel. It will be a busy week but filled with music and kindness, and I'm so happy to be here!
