Touring With Your Tastebuds

Last week I wrote I was heading to a lunch with Michelin star Chef Silvia Baracchi, whose family owns Il Falconiere Relais & Spa in Cortona, Tuscany, and you can see her there in the background cooking our delicious three-course meal as we took over La Scuola at Eataly. Her hand-rolled and perfectly al dente pasta with fresh mozzarella and a homemade tomato sauce (with hints of carrot and lemon) was so divine I actually got emotional when I came to the very last pasta noodle. I didn't want that dish to ever end! Just imagine dining like this every day at Il Falconiere after your day of Tuscan sightseeing.

 

Last week's Muse News also began with another Frances Mayes quote, so you can imagine my surprise when we found out she was joining us for lunch! That's us in the photo above after I fangirled with her and showed her that day's Muse News on my phone with her quote. She lives down the road from Il Falconiere and became close friends with Silvia Baracchi as they each worked on important building renovations at the same time in their lives. You might end up lunching with Frances Mayes too when you visit Cortona!

 

Tonight I'm attending another fun event, organized by the German National Tourist Office exclusively for travel professionals. I'll be networking with Berlin hotel partners during a dinner featuring a German chef who's preparing authentic German dishes paired with traditional German wines. It's a timely invitation because I've just booked a client to Berlin this summer.

 

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow night too when I'll be attending Uruguay Unveiled, an exclusive evening hosted by the Uruguay Tourism Authorities all about exploring Uruguay through its bold flavors, premium travel experiences, and warm hospitality. We'll be treated to Mini Chivitos (Uruguay’s signature sandwich), Uruguayan grill specialties, mini empanadas, and mini alfajores to end the night on a sweet note. I'll be connecting in person with top Uruguayan hotels and tour operators to learn how Uruguay is becoming one of South America’s most exciting emerging destinations.
