Your Perfect Paris Hotel

"The streets of Paris had a way of making me stop in my tracks, my heart suspended. They seemed saturated with presence, even if there was no one there but me. These were places where something could happen, or had happened, or both." ― Lauren Elkin, Flâneuse

I don't know why, but Paris sinks into the deepest, hidden areas of my heart. My Paris is a conjurer. I have exhausting, intense, revelatory dreams when I'm here. Everything is so beautiful, so delicious, so charming, so significant; I'm spellbound. I arrived Saturday morning and was enchanted all over again. After checking into Philippe Stark's trendy Brach Paris and getting a hotel tour, I watched Paris unfurl outside Uber windows from my hotel in the 16th Arr. (quiet and residential) to the Nolinski Paris hotel in the 1st Arr. (between the Louvre and Opéra Garnier) to the Cour des Vosges, a luxury hotel inside a 16th century building that's a listed historical monument right on the famous, royal square called Place des Vosge in the Marais district. These are the three luxury and design-forward hotels that the Evok Collection has in Paris, and I have a much clearer sense now of who the right client is for each one.

After a yummy cheeseboard at Cour des Vosges' cafe under historic vaulted arcades on Place des Vosges, I wandered around the plaza taking photos, including the one above. Children played in a sandbox, climbed monkey bars, and kicked soccer balls with their dads. Lovers sat entwined on benches. A woman strode by in a hurry carrying an enormous bouquet of white calla lilies swaying above her head. More people were reading paperbacks than their smartphones. It was all perfect.

Yesterday and today my itinerary includes touring six Left Bank hotels in Hotels Paris Rive Gauche's collection including Hôtel Les Dames du Panthéon and Hôtel Des Grands Hommes (where I'm currently a guest). Our group of nine travel advisors has been treated to a tuk tuk tour, a gourmet shopping stop at La Grande Épicerie de Paris, and a make-up session at Le Bon Marché (mine was with Guerlain), plus a cooking class this morning to make croque-monsieur. We're having such fun reveling in Paris together as we learn more about these hotels, grateful for the warm sunshine here.

While delving into delightful Parisian hotels for you, I can't believe I'm dodging another winter storm in New York! I was in Dublin during last month's snowfall, and I was strolling through Paris as the blizzard of 2026 arrived. (I wish I could have experienced thundersnow though.)

Because I don't stop working for my clients when I'm away, much of my weekend in Paris was spent helping a family of four whose airline canceled their flight home on Sunday from Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic to NYC due to the weather. The earliest available return flight was Thursday, and since they listened to me and included travel insurance, these unexpected FOUR more nights away from home won't be a financial blow. I booked them extra nights at Hotel Boutique Casa Colonial Beach & Spa in a room where they can walk out right to the beach. Their Virtuoso amenities include two 50-minute massages, which these parents deserve! There are worse places to be "stuck," and for sure this would have been more stressful for them without having me there to assist. Take that, AI!

Since I was managing the Puerto Plata situation, I haven't had time to post photos of my trip yet. But I did upload first impression walk-through videos of my rooms at Brach Paris and Hôtel Des Grands Hommes. I tried something new and didn't narrate these ones. I just let the rooms speak for themselves. Have a look at the Nine Muses Travel YouTube "Hotel tours" playlist. and let me know if you like looking at the rooms this way, without my commentary. What's more helpful for you?

Stay safe, East Coast! And dream about the warm and sunny places you'd like me to book for you! ;)
