Many happy Nine Muses Travelers returned home this past week, and more amazing journeys are next up in May for guests heading to Morocco, Maui, Ireland, Scotland, England, France, Italy, and Hungary.
One destination that's always in demand is Tuscany, and today I had lunch at Eataly with Michelin star Chef Silvia Baracchi, whose family has owned Il Falconiere Relais & Spa since 1860. Their restored 17th-century mansion reflects the simple and refined style of ancient Tuscan residences with its antiques, frescoes on the walls, hand-made fabrics, and wrought iron beds. The solar kitchen is where Michelin-starred Etruscan fare is created with ingredients sourced from their own farm. I'm thrilled for this invitation and will be fighting the urge in conversation to keep saying: YES, CHEF!
Il Falconiere Relais & Spa is located in the heart of Tuscany and right outside Cortana, known as the setting for the book and movie Under the Tuscan Sun. For foodies and film lovers, it's a sublime spot. We had a surprise guest at lunch too - Frances Mayes herself!
Tuscany is a large region, and I made it a priority in recent years to travel there annually to experience different villages, cities, hotels, beaches, mountains, vineyards, museums, thermal spas, restaurants, and attractions. Each town has a tale to tell and a unique appeal, and my explorations along with my exceptional colleagues throughout Italy can help tailor your own dreamy trip under the Tuscan sun!
