This weekend Nine Muses Travel celebrated its third anniversary! It's astonishing how much has been accomplished in three years. It feels more like 30 years since I combined my travel and arts management careers (and lifelong passions) to form a business helping fellow artists and arts lovers explore the world and live a more inspired life. I hit that ground running, and it's been an extraordinarily fulfilling time, especially now, being able to offer a service that's needed even more today. Last night I heard from a dear friend whose husband served in Afghanistan while she was home alone raising their newborn daughter. Wanting to help those who helped our veterans, her community in Fairfax County, VA organized a "home set up team" from Lutheran Social Services National Capitol Area to help newly arriving Afghan Allies resettle. If you've watched the news wondering how you can help, please consider donating any of the items on her team's list if you're in the D.C. area, or you can select the gift card option, which allows her team to purchase needed items on the list. I was surprised to learn such a program exists - practical, efficient, and full of heart. I love it! These families are traveling out of necessity, and if I can help ease even that kind of travel by spreading the word with you, I'll have done some more travel good in the world.
For more lighthearted travels, this week Nine Muses Travel clients are returning from a summer getaway with deluxe oceanfront views of Waikiki Beach, and later this week a lucky family departs for Barcelona and some fabulous tours: a private city tour with Skip the Line access to Sagrada Familia, an evening walking tour of the city's darker legends and lore, a day trip and hiking through the Pyrenees Mountains, plus a day trip to visit medieval mountain villages. It's such a fun family itinerary, and I can't wait to hear all about it!
