The recurring theme here lately has been reconnection, and I'm feeling grateful for so many people I reunited with throughout the week, some of the people who matter the most to me. Last week a group of women I used to work alongside at previous travel companies met for rooftop rosé at her new home in downtown Brooklyn. One of them (who looks just like the brunette in this photo!) I haven't seen since before the pandemic, and social media most definitely does not count. It felt amazing to hug this woman over and over, to feel the length of these past years melt away between us. Over the next few days, I spoke with more people I hold very close to my heart and reconnected in luxuriously long conversations. Love and friendship are hardy, defiant joys that keep us going through anything and everything.
I'm excited to next see my family and more beloved friends in Pittsburgh over the upcoming Labor Day weekend. Dad got me and my oldest friend (from the 6th grade!) tickets for Saturday night to see Chris Rock's younger brother, Jordan Rock, at Pittsburgh Improv. Dad was always such a sport and drove my girlfriend and I to some pretty awesome concerts and films that left longstanding imprints on us - like Teen Witch and Heathers. I can't wait to make new memories together with them this weekend! If anyone's in Pittsburgh on Saturday night, come join us at the 7pm show!
