"Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you." ― Frank Lloyd Wright

Hello from Nemacolin - a fabulously fun resort in the Laurel Highlands of Southwest Pennsylvania! I wrote this separate blog about Nemacolin (click here), and I hope you have a minute to read it because it's not easy at all to sum up what it's like to stay here. I hope I've done it justice and that you'll let me know if it sounds like a place you want to learn more about from someone with first-hand knowledge. I have a lot to share! I unlocked a secret talent for clay shooting despite never firing a gun before, and I know you'll keep busy and try new things when you stay here too.

My invitation to Nemacolin was timed perfectly for me to arrive a little early into Pittsburgh to surprise my father on his birthday and to serve as a celebration for Nine Muses Travel's seven-year anniversary last week. I was able to host my grandmother and uncle at Nemacolin on my arrival day too for a look around The Chateau as my guest. They loved being enthusiastically welcomed by my sales contact here before heading off to make some money at the Nemacolin Casino, which is open to the public.

These past few days were a confluence of happy occasions with people I love including having dinner with my friends Tom and Lara, who live nearby in Hopwood, PA. They met me at The Historic Summit Inn Resort, where I spent the night before arriving at Nemacolin. The Inn was built in 1907 and has hosted Thomas Edison, Warren Harding, Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone, and naturalist John Burroughs. Its spectacular mountain top views are best enjoyed from its grand porches, which make it a notable landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It's just a 10-minute drive from Nemacolin along the "National Road," the country's first federally funded highway. Built between 1811-1834 from Maryland to Illinois, this vital part of American history is now mostly known as U.S. Route 40.

Near both properties, you'll find Laurel Caverns, Fort Necessity, Ohiopyle State Park, and two important Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian homes: Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob. This region is filled with American history, art, and pristine natural beauty, and Nemacolin is an exquisite place to stay and explore all of it before coming home to luxurious comfort.

I'll upload a lot of photos from Nemacolin in the coming days, so please like and follow Nine Muses Travel's Facebook and Instagram to check those out. Next I'm off to Finland; I hope you follow along!
